Picnic a Huge Success
By rough estimate 70 adults, 20 children, and 11 dogs spent an enjoyable Sunday afternoon eating and socializing and playing at the Broomfield Democratic Party picnic. Organized by our own Events Coordinator ā Pam Gianola, and with a supporting cast of many, the picnic came off as a grand event. āThe best everā, were comments made by several in attendance/ Chef Jim Holitza, proved to be the gas grill master of charcoal as he cooked beef burgers, soy burgers, salmon burgers, bratwursts & hot dogs, not to mention his fingers. Thank you to Jim and sous chef Carol for toiling while the rest of us socialized. There were great home made side dishes as well as deli food ā all of it good.
We were pleased to see so many of our elected officials and candidates. These included Representative Dianne Primavera of House District 33, Joe Whitcomb, candidate for Senate District 23, and District Attorney Don Quick. Exclusively representing Broomfield were Mayor Pat Quinn, and Council persons Dennis McCloskey and Bob Gieser. It was noteworthy that among the familiar faces there were also some new comers who came as guests of Party members, or who saw the event mentioned in the paper. To them we say welcome and hope that they can join us for other events as well.
Melissa Rawsky took the lead to assist Pam in establishing the goal of making the picnic a zero waste event. Of course no event can actually achieve a perfect āzeroā score; however, we came pretty close and that alone was special.
